Cape Coral Regional Public Safety Training Complex

CPS and Architects Design Group programmed a 40-acre public safety training campus for Cape Coral, covering educational facilities, student housing, and live-time training in vehicles, weapons, search and rescue, and water environments.

The engagement

What we did

Cape Coral is a coastal community on Florida’s southwest Gulf coast, distinguished by miles of canals connecting to the Gulf of Mexico through the Caloosahatchee River, and for several years it held the title of fastest growing city in the United States. That growth led to a new police facility and to recognition of a wider training need, both for the city and for surrounding agencies whose options for police, fire, sheriff’s, 911, EMT, and emergency management training were limited. The Center for Public Safety was retained by the city and Architects Design Group to undertake a space needs study for a new public safety training complex. CPS projected an entire public safety educational and training campus across a 40-acre parcel, with educational facilities, student housing, and live training in vehicles, weapons, search and rescue, and water environments. The complex is designed to draw instructors and students from across the country, not the region alone.
